Mud to Marle at Kirribilli House

We are proud to be part of the Australian Fashion Council’s (AFC) Innovation and Sustainability Showcase, a celebration of Australian innovation and sustainable fashion at Kirribilli House.

AFC and Jodie Haydon, Partner of the Prime Minister, hosted an Australian fashion sustainability event attended by leading Australian fashion designers, such as Bianca Spender, Mary Lou Ryan (Bassike) and Margie Woods (Viktoria & Woods), Minister of Environment and Water, Tanya Plibersek and industry.

Three homegrown innovations were showcased, pushing the Australian fashion industry's environmental transition to a more sustainable future were projected throughout Kirribilli House.

The showcase included Mud to Marle, a collaboration between Full Circle Fibres (Meriel Chamberlin), Country Road Group, Deakin University (Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin University) + LoomTex. The project is trialling end-to-end manufacturing within Australia, sourcing Australian grown wool and cotton with the aim of manufacturing fabrics entirely on-shore.

BlockTexx and AFC FashTech Lab were also featured at the event. BlockTexx is a leading Australian clean technology company that creates a global solution for hard to recycle clothing blends. The AFC FashTech Lab piloted 15 Australian brands who achieved savings on cost, time, carbon, water and textile waste by transitioning from physical sampling to digital sampling. The project also highlights the potential to keep jobs and digital skills local.

The AFC Innovation and Sustainability Showcase event is part of ongoing industry collaborations to accelerate its commitment to innovation and sustainability to create a thriving, more sustainable and globally competitive Australian fashion industry.
